A bloody Sunday greeted residence of this peaceful village when a retired seaman shoot himself to death after killing his wife, three children, and a house helper Sunday morning inside their residence in Palm View Village, barangay Tabunok, this city.
The lone survivor in the brutal massacre, 14-year-old Embrelaince Therjoy Ponce, said it was her father Emmanuel who killed her mother Melenda, 53; siblings Elain Grace, 26; Heether Joy, 25; and Emlin, 18;
and their house helper Anastasia Deñega, 30.
Before killing himself, Emmanuel allegedly asked Embrelaince to go out of the house and call the police because he killed his wife, three children, and the house helper.
“He told me he has killed everyone but will let me live so I ran out of the house,” said Embrelaince who saw the blooded bodies of her sisters and brother before going out of the house past 8 a.m. on
Sunday.
As she stepped out of the door, Embrelaince said she heard another gunshot and believed it was her father killing himself.
Police were still puzzled at the motive of the killing but neighbor Yoli Daan, wife of Cebu Board Member Julian Daan, said Emmanuel had nervous breakdown following an incident inside the vessel he was
working ten years ago.
Daan remembered a previous conversation when Melenda told her that her husband had tried to hurt her. Melenda also told Daan that there were times when her husband suddenly went out of his mind and become
violent.
Police recovered seven empty shells of and one magazine of live ammunition, and the .45 caliber gun that the father used in the massacre.
